Ironwood Institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Universitas Islam Balitar of Indonesia, for the provision of higher education to Indonesian students in Agribusiness and Leadership Management. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Honourable Martin Hamilton-Smith, Minister for Investment and Trade South Australia, at Parliament House in Adelaide on 17 Nov 2016.
The event was supported by the South Australian Department of State Development (DSD), Study Adelaide, PIRSA, HortEx Alliance and Primary Industries Skills Council SA and Knowledge Exchange International.
The Minister highlighted the importance of this collaboration with Indonesia as it is Australia’s closest and biggest neighbour country.
The delegation team included the following high level officials from the University Balitar
- Dr Hadi Siswanto Slamet, Chancellor
- Mr Supriyono Soehirman Ali Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs
- Mr Soebiyantoro Jitno Soeparto, Vice Chancellor Finances & HRM
- Mr Muh. Zaenul Ikhwan, Vice Chancellor International Affairs
They all welcomed this collaboration as it will offer their graduates an opportunity to study in Adelaide, Australia’s premier learning city.
Navtej Bal CEO of Ironwood said, “Today marks a very special occasion in the international expansion of Ironwood Careers and Training. This is the second international collaboration that we have secured this year, which will deliver significant number of overseas students to South Australia.”
Mr Bal also thanked Mr Peter Klar and his team from DSD for their efficient and timely support.
Mr Bal also acknowledged the most important role played by Mrs Rini Budiyanti, Tomy Bawulang and their team Knowledge Exchange International as a bridge between the two organisation.
The collaboration will develop long term co-operation in the development of skills and knowledge in the field of agribusiness across a range of subject matters and disciplines including;
- Horticulture
- Organic farming
- irrigation and water management;
- agribusiness and farm management;
- natural resource and environmental management;
- business management;
- leadership and communication;
- change management;
- and other areas as identified;
The visiting delegation also toured Hi-Tech farms in Northern Adelaide Plains and research facilities at Waite Campus of University of Adelaide.
Ironwood team will travel to Indonesia in January 2017 to further strengthen these ties.
