Students Visit Apex Greenhouses โ€“ A Glimpse into the Future of Horticulture

On Tuesday, 9 September, students from Ironwoodโ€™s Production Horticulture Technology Skill Set course joined our educators for an exclusive tour of Apex Greenhouses โ€” one of Australiaโ€™s leaders in high-tech horticultural production.

The visit was part of the Industry Bites Adelaide North program, in collaboration with Workskil, offering participants first-hand insights into real-world greenhouse operations and innovative agri-tech systems.

Located in Virginia, Apex Greenhouses blends cutting-edge glasshouse construction with AI-driven growing systems, vertical cropping, and hydroponic techniques. Our students witnessed how precision irrigation delivers just the right 300ml of water per plant per day, and how sustainable design supports large-scale production of tomatoes, strawberries, and other vine crops.

Led by CEO Folco Faber, the tour inspired students to see how future-ready skills taught at Ironwood can open doors to careers in smart, sustainable horticulture.
