International Agriculture for Development and Ironwood host international study tour

With 15 participants from Nepal, Bangladesh and India, International Agriculture for Development and Ironwood Institute hosted a study tour for three weeks during February.

The study tour was attended by experienced agricultural extension, research and academic staff who work with farmers and manage outreach projects in developing countries. The program will assist them in helping farmers in a changing environment both economically and technically.

A series of field tours gave the students exposure to practical skills focusing on improved irrigation and water management practices through the use of modern irrigation technologies (dripper, micro sprinkler) and importantly how farmers and extension personnel can monitor soil moisture in the crops. The study tour also incorporated hands-on training for the students in a range of crop production systems.
